The Unofficial Star Wars the Old Republic Strategy Guide
MONEY
redits are important for pretty
much everything in TOR. You
buy your skills, complete crew
skill missions, upgrade your speeder,
purchase upgrades for your space ship and
customization kits for your companion. And
that's ignoring the need to upgrade your
actual gear from auction house purchases.
C
If you were to play the game from start
to end without interacting with another
player, you would have enough money to
purchase all your skills and your best
speeder without any issues. Once you
decide to start using crew skills or
purchasing items from the auction house,
that's when money starts to have a big
impact.
Making Credits
From the simplest of matters,
completing quests and killing enemies will
generate thousands of credits. Once you
gain your first companion, actually selling
items will become easier as well. A simple
click of a button will send them away to sell
all your worthless (grey) loot and come
back with the money after a minute.
You can also expand your backpack to
have more slots for a credit fee, up to 5
times. It's usually a good idea to expand
once you have double the credits required.
So if the cost is 25,000 credits, wait until
you have 50,000. It really depends on your
playstyle as some people won't ever have
full bags. Once you get the full bag
message, you're essentially leaving money
on the ground though. As a personal
opinion, I would purchase the first set of
bag slots once you have the credits and
then wait until you purchase your first
speeder at level 25 before buying any
additional ones. The cost of a speeder and
training at level 25 is over 40,000 credits,
quite a lot.
As another option, you can take 3
gathering crew skills and through your
travels, collect from the nodes out in the
wild. You can then sell these items to other
players who need them to craft. It only
takes a fraction more time to gather items
since you're already out in the wild.
Sending your companion to gather is much
less rewarding as the odds are that the fee
to send them will exceed the value of the
item returned.
A more risky option is picking up a
crafting crew skill and selling the final items
to other players on the auction house.
There is a large risk here as usually only the
